After all, you’re probably not the first to think “Who the hell is this guy and why should I listen to him??"

I am probably best known for my regular monthly Funky House podcast on iTunes and my quirky Funky House/Electro music tastes. As a quietly understated professional DJ for over 10 solid years, my musical influences stem from artists such as Soul Avengerz, Freemasons, Calvin Harris, Bassmonkeys, Soulshaker, Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Ian Carey, Raul Rincon and Audio Jacker as well as record labels such as Defected and CR2.

My career started after I got my first pair of Technics 1200’s in 1998 and began putting on successful events and parties around my local area where I quickly began establishing a name for myself at both live events and on pirate radio.

I progressed on to organising larger events including Club Empire in Guildford where I had a hand in running a 1500 capacity event. I have produced several bootleg remixes that have been aired on London’s KissFM and also played at the KissFM Kisstory events. This in turn led me to attend the finals of the Ford Ka Mash-Up DJ competition at China Whites in London as well as being offered to remix for the DMC record label.

Bar residencies and club guest spots have seen me travel all over England and Wales, as well as abroad. In Ibiza I rocked the legendary Bar M in San Antonio, In Austria I smashed the Skykitchen in Vienna plus I have had recent interest from big name promoters in Dubai.

In 2007, I began to produce regular monthly mixes and publish them on iTunes. I quickly became regarded as one of the top Funky House podcasters on iTunes where I was now able to broadcast to a global audience by regularly being a featured podcast.

I have been a DJ at the legendary Bar M in Ibiza

A few years ago I travelled to Ibiza for a holiday of partying and mayhem. It was my first time out there and I was both nervous and excited. I had always wanted to DJ in Ibiza and so I sacrificed over half of my baggage weight allowance so that I could take out a selection of tunes with me.

I had no prior arrangements to play in Ibiza... no bookings... no agent...in fact no idea of even how I would get myself a DJ set in the clubbing capital of the world where icons such as Judge Jules and Eddie Halliwell have played. While in San Antonio one hot sunny afternoon I stumbled across Bar M where I decided to perch and have a couple of drinks while watching the sun go down.

Well I won't bore you with the details but after a friendly chat with the owners, they agreed to let me come back that night and play a set and that's exactly what I did. I returned to my hotel room, got changed, showered up and packed my record box.

Later that night I played what has got to be one of the best experiences of my life. It was simply one of the best crowds I have ever played for, one of the best DJ sets I have ever played in quite simply the most beautiful surroundings in the world. In one word simply "breathtaking".

I've partied in Vienna Austria

Earlier on this year, I was asked to DJ for a prestigious nightclub over in Vienna Austria. This booking came about from the venue owner having heard one of my mixes through iTunes. He got in touch and offered to fly me out to Vienna, supply airport transfers plus put me up in a luxury five-star hotel room for the night too.

The night itself was FANTASTIC. I had two warm up DJs play before me, then I stepped up and played a monster 4 hour long DJ set which was the most fun I have had in a very long time.

I've spun tunes all night long on a PRIVATE BOAT PARTY

One of the more interesting events that I have ever been asked to DJ at was on a private boat party as we all sailed up and down the River Thames passing beautifully lit London landmarks as we went.

It was a requirement of the management that I play a mixture of oldskool classic tunes for the whole night. I couldn't believe it when they told me, it was like all my Christmases in one go as I got to play my favourite styles of music in gorgeous surroundings. I even had live music support playing before me in the form of Jools Holland's brother's band.

I had such a great reaction and feedback from this party where the crowd and the promoter loved it so much, that at NO EXTRA COST to the promoter, I burned him off a copy of the night on CD for him to listen to again and again.

I've played in the middle of nowhere!

Seriously, it took me hours to find this place but it was definitely worth the wait. I had been invited to come and play at a very private and exclusive ticket-only party in the depths of Surrey at a PRIVATE POLO CLUB.

I'm not a mobile disco DJ

I am not some cheesy 'wannabe' jock with microphone in hand, spangly jacket and bow tie combined with crappy flashing lights and a naff sound system. This is simply not what I do. You WON'T find me talking all over the music... you WON'T find me introducing each track like a poor radio DJ does... you WON'T find me giving 'shout outs' to the crowd... you WON'T find me spoiling the night with mindless chatter...

What you WILL find however is a quality DJ that will play music that is appropriate for YOUR venue... music that will rock YOUR crowd... music that is within the genre that YOU specify... a DJ act that YOU can be proud of and confident in promoting...

This is an important factor to note as the last thing you want is a wedding DJ turn up to your venue and run off the top ten chart 'hits' like some emotionless jukebox. I live and breathe what I do and I am completely immersed in it... I feel it is more of a way of life for me than anything else and to be fair I'm sure you would rather book a DJ that knows exactly what they are doing behind the decks.

The problem is that many promoters do not have the money to invest in a high-profile headline act to DJ at their first night's début event.

How many DJ agencies have you been to that have sent you what they claim to be the "Worlds Best Up And Coming DJ"? Let me guess, they also turned up with 15 under age friends who all wanted to get in for free who all were breaking the dress code who all then shared one drink between them and spent the whole night surrounding the DJ booth and intimidating the other guests.

I have been to these kinds of events before I have seen it happen and I along with most of the other guests that night headed straight for the exit.

Not many other DJ acts can PROVE how good they are. Well I CAN... I really have been a DJ in Ibiza as the sun came up... I really have rocked a sell-out gig over in Vienna... I really have been a DJ while cruising along the River Thames in London... I really have several thousand people a WEEK listening to my DJ sets... I really have my own podcast listed in iTunes... I really have music sent to me on PROMO disc direct from the artists themselves... Yes, ALL of the photos on this site are REAL and... Yes, ALL of my testimonials are REAL.

OK Paul, but if you are so good at what you do how come I have not heard of you before?

Chances are, you probably have already heard of me and my music. The trouble is that in this industry it's all about the big names and the headline acts. Its all about booking the well known DJ names that promoters can splash in big letters right across the front of the flyer. Well that's not really my scene... You see as much as I love bright lights and attention I do not go around looking for it and I certainly do not crave it.

I get a lot more satisfaction from seeing the eyes of the crowd light up as I drop their favourite track rather than seeing my name in big bright lights and because of this I often sneak in 'under the radar' when it comes to putting a flyer together.

Take a look at this HUGE A0 SIZE POSTER pictured just to the side here. This was a DJ booking for a night over at a club in Vauxhall, London called Hidden a very famous well known venue that has seen promotions from the likes of Caribana... Loved Up... Freeformation... HDS... Moondance... Republic... Definition... DirtyDubbin... El Barrio and many others. You will see that although I am on the flyer I am not one of these overpriced 'big name' DJs who are there just to play their own records and take the money before heading straight to the exit.

I am a very understated DJ who plays at select events across Europe... and because I don't charge the Earth for my services bar owners and promoters don't feel like they have the need to get their money's worth by putting my name in 20ft lettering.

This isn't to say I have never been a headline act before. Far from it... in fact to cite just one example a little while ago I was asked to play the opening launch night for a brand new club that had just had a £1MILLION POUNDS makeover. For this night I was booked to be the headline act and the promoter went all out with publicity and promotion. Not only did I get splashed over giant posters and full colour flyers he even spent some cash putting together a national radio advert for me.

I've managed to track down a copy of the actual national radio advert itself. Take a listen by pressing the play button. As you can hear, this promoter was very confident in what I had to offer and the night was a huge success not only for me but for the bar as well. I ended up hanging around until the very end of the night and I saw the huge rolls of cash that were being emptied from the tills as the staff cashed up like it was Christmas.

It was more money than I had ever seen in my life

I've held down residencies at some of the UK's largest bar chains. I have had a period of regular Friday and Saturday night bookings for chains of pubs famous across the United Kingdom. Bar work is very different to nightclub work because the mood is a lot different and as a DJ you need to be a hell of a lot more flexible with regards to music policy.

This residency spanned a season and a half lasting for nine months of full-on Friday night and Saturday night mayhem.

So I am no stranger to working a commercial bar... in fact I am just at home behind the decks of a Friday night bar as I am at home behind the decks of a Saturday night club... you could call it versatile.

And once again when I have stayed right until the end of the night... when the last person at the club has left and the doors are locked... I have seen the bar staff cashing up the tills... I have seen the huge rolls of folding money that they pull out from the tiny little drawer underneath the till... I have seen them struggling to stuff the notes into their cash bags... I have seen the bars and clubs which I play at take A LOT OF MONEY whenever I have been their DJ for the night.

But before I continue... I would just like to point out that nothing I have said so far has been an attempt to try and impress you. The only reason I have put this letter together is because I thought you should see the proof of my achievements so you can check me out first.

I've been there... I've done that...

In my humble 10+ years as an international DJ I have seen and done many things. I've been on both sides of the decks as a clubber and as a DJ. I've also been on both sides of the balance sheet as a promoter making profits and losses along the way.

Chances are I have been in your shoes at some point albeit perhaps on a different scale but I understand how running a night works... I understand the ins and the outs of the business... I understand the overheads and the effort that goes into making a successful event happen...

I know that being a DJ is a lot more than just playing records... I know how to speak to the public from the DJ booth... I know how to play the right tune at the right time to keep the crowd on the dance floor AND at the bar...
